This is what happened around  the end of may first of June ish. What was going to be restring 3 dolls turned in to 5. All were Dakins with original rubber bands. So, they lasted about 30 years. Pretty god. I restrung with elastic. I like it better.

Last week I got to go to New Orleans, LA for the UFDC public sales day. I also spent a little time in the French Quarter. I would have liked to spend the night, but that would have probably led to frivolity, because it is such a big EZ place to get lost! I love the shops on Bourbon Street, and had to snap this picture of Ginny W on the Hearse.

A Day Trip to Galveston Island

It was a wonderful good Friday and we decided to go to Galveston, TX to ride the DUCK. DUCKs are amphibious military vehicles from WW II. There are duck tours in many cities around the US. We have been on the one in Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Now in Galveston too. We discovered they are not all owned by the same group. In the previous rides we were given duck calls that look like duck bills so we could quack along the way. The tour in Galveston does not share the patent that allows them to give you the bill. But the trip is fun none the less. There is a company in Chicago that will sell you tour own DUCK and you can pay to have it restored.

We also went to the Lone Star Flight Museum. There are some interesting aircraft there. And an extensive gift shop.

It Comes Every So Often

Well, just Monday, February 27, I got my car out of the shop for being hit in the Kroger parking lot. No note, just a banged up bumper and side damage from what appeared to be a shopping cart pushed along. Lucky for us, it was covered under our uninsured motorist part of the policy. Well, this Monday, March 5, we got victimized again. This time we were at the stop light in Chubby Hubby's car, (right in front of said Kroger) when a "man" trying to flee from hitting another car decided to squeeze between us and the car in the next lane. Needless to say, he hit us both. Did he stop? No, he tried to run from this scene also! We, and some nice witnesses, were able to give chase and get him cornered about half a mile up the road. When the police arrived he was promptly handcuffed for outstanding warrants. He will have had at least one night in jail to think about what he did. So far, there is no indication that he had insurance, so once again, it will have to go against our insurance. I think there should be better ways to track people that do not have insurance to keep them off the roads. Ours is the little red car, his is the black truck and of course the culprit in handcuffs.

My Beautiful Bird: Blue

Blue is my newest addition to the family. He came here in October of last year. On presidents day, Big Lots had an 8 mega pixel movie camera for only $25.15 with tax! The SD disc was another 10 bucks, so a very good price. This is my first movie with that camera. Blue was not impressed.

Well, a post a year?

It has been a rough year for me and I am hoping this one to be better. It has already started better as I entered a sewing contest at the Fletcher Pattern Group on Yahoo groups, and WON! The theme was Winter Wonderland and my Peter Pevensie was the target of my sewing. Using a pattern by Fletcher Patterns, "In the Game" I created this ski outfit for him. He, the judges and I were very pleased with the outcome!

I have not been good at posting

............It always amazes me how folks blog every day. But here I am and my thing lately has been to play with Dead Fred, a pen/pencil holder CH got for Christmas. I started posting a daily scene to Face book from 1-11-11 and hope to run through 11-11-11. A limited engagement. Here is a sample.

Turning 55

Well I hit the speed limit today! 52 more to go! It did not hurt a bit. I still was able to play dolls and we took a dip in the pool. I had my favorite meal, fish and cucumbers with strawberry cake for dessert!

A new doll for me

An online friend is selling on ebay to raise money for adoption funds. I was the winner of this darling porcelain head. It came with the wig. I ordered a body from dollsparts and now have a whole doll of the Rosette size! I think she is sweet. I also purchased the dress and sweater set from the same friend. Isn't she just an adorable dolly? She still has to tell me her name....

Once again spring is here and with it comes a new batch of abandoned kitties. I am fostering these two and have found permanent homes for them when they are old enough. It is so sad that every year so many cats and dogs are destroyed because of the carelessness of humans. Well these two will not be having any babies of their own.

Letter from a cat!

Last evening when I checked my mail, I had a little card that was from my friend Zoom the cat. I just met Zoom on Thursday. Pretty nice cat but apparently the smell of my own kitties on me was too much. After holding and petting Zoom, I suddenly became a bite victim. LOL I think it was a very funny situation as zoom is not a cat that would normally bite anyone. I should have paid more attention to that welcoming hiss!

Well the card is too cute, zoom being sorry for behavior, and sending sincere apologies. There is a bonus with the card! It has a tiny knit piece with tiny knitting needles on the front. My friend Ginny W will get these for learning to knit along with me.
